Cattle Reproduction Services at Green Prairie in San Jose, Illinois

We understand the importance of efficient reproductive management for your herd’s productivity. Our comprehensive range of cattle reproduction services is designed to optimize fertility, increase herd health, and boost overall productivity. With advanced tools and years of experience, we’re here to help you achieve the best outcomes for your herd.

Pregnancy Diagnosis by Ultrasound

Ultrasound technology offers the advantage of Early Detection: Pregnancy can be diagnosed as early as 28 days of gestation, allowing for early intervention and management. Reproductive ultrasound is a safe, cost-effective, and valuable tool for herd managers, helping you make informed decisions about your cattle’s reproductive health.

Artificial Insemination (AI)

Artificial Insemination is a powerful tool for improving herd genetics. AI Helps to improve herd genetics and optimize breeding success. To maximize your chances of success, we provide CIDR insertion (Controlled Internal Drug Release) to synchronize your cow’s estrous cycle, ensuring that they’re ready for breeding at the optimal time. We also administer necessary medications to support the process and ensure the cow is in prime condition for conception.

Breeding Soundness Exams (Semen Testing)

Semen testing is an essential service for assessing the fertility of bulls and ensuring successful breeding outcomes in your herd. We help you evaluate semen quality, optimize breeding success, and improve the overall reproductive health of your cattle. We provide a detailed report outlining the quality of the semen. If there are any issues with the semen, we will provide recommendations for improving fertility, such as dietary adjustments, health management, or other changes to support better semen production. During a semen evaluation, we evaluate under a microscope. Key factors we assess include:

  • Motility: The percentage of sperm that are actively swimming. Good motility is essential for successful fertilization.

  • Morphology: The shape and structure of the sperm. Abnormal sperm can reduce fertility and the chances of successful insemination.

  • Concentration: The number of sperm cells in a given sample. Higher concentrations are typically more effective for breeding.

  • Viability: We also check for any abnormalities or contaminants that might affect the quality of the semen and its ability to result in a pregnancy.

Pelvic Measuring

Proper pelvic measurements are essential for ensuring that cows are physically ready for calving. Our pelvic measuring services help you avoid calving difficulties, leading to better health for both the cow and the calf.

Bovine Embryo Implanting

Embryo transplantation involves collecting embryos from donor cows with superior genetics and transferring them into recipient cows, allowing you to quickly enhance your herd with high-quality genetics. While we are unable to collect embryos, we do offer embryo insertion services.
